I just wanted to let you all know that I finally gave in and got a del.icio.us account. I'm using it for fic recs for now, but who knows how it'll evolve.

Anyway, it can be found here. It's up-to-date through my last fic rec posting on here, and I plan on keeping it that way.

And I think you all might get a kick out of this - I came across some older fic of mine that I thought I lost. Now, I'm not saying any of it's any good, but you all might get some enjoyment out of it. The scary thing is, I don't remember writing some of it (though, I did check and it is mine).

They can be found here and here

This is just a bunch of fic recs for various fandoms that I've found. I've been meaning to organize the folder they were in for a whie, and finally decided to do it and put them all somewhere that it would be easier for me to find them.

Plus, I keep thinking as I read various fics, "Oh! I should tell ___ about this fic," and then never do, or tell one person and forget to tell someone else, etc. So, this way I can share what I've got with all of you.

1. I was reading an article in "Men's Fitness" about Paul Walker and his fitness routine and there was a bit about his background and how he had signed up for the military for the Gulf War and he was bragging about it and his dad (who had served in Viet Nam) was like, "You say that one more time, I'm going to knock your ass out, nail you in a crate and ship you to Canada."

2.a. And on the topic of dads...mine can be rather amusing some of the time. Wednesday night, after reminding me that he was going out Thursday after work, he was like, "So, can you set the VCR to tape 'The O.C.' premiere for me in case I don't get home in time?"

2.b. When were at the movies that were being shown on campus (The Longest Yard remake and Mr. and Mrs. Smith), "The Simpsons" was being shown beforehand as people were coming in and when it cut to a commercial break, there was one for "Bones" and my dad's like, "Isn't that Angel?" and I was like, "Yeah," and he was like, "But he's in a show."

3.a. The Longest Yard remake and Mr. and Mrs. Smith were both enjoyable. And for those of you who've seen the latter, can I say how much I loved the car chase with the van?

3.b. I'm positive that the whole prison setting is now a kink for me. Between the Longest Yard remake, "Prison Break", and Bent Justice, I'm a gonner.

3.c. Speaking of the Longest Yard remake, I think I need to be smacked now. Because now I want to write a fic with an Adam Sandler character in it. I never thought I'd see that day. Besides, I have *way* too many other fics that need writing.

4.a. I've rented the first disc of season 1 of "House" and had a mini-marathon of the first six episodes. So far I like it. I'm not in love with it yet, but I'm definitely enjoying it. Need to watch the other two episodes on the disc in the morning and hopefully the second and third discs will be back by the time I take it back.

4.b. When I was in Blockbuster renting it, the guy ringing me up (who was new) was like, "Can I see your ID?" and I was like, "I'm sorry, I don't have it on me, I'd have to go get it." (I've never needed it before, so I had left it in my truck.) And the guy was like, "Well, it says here that you need to show your ID." And one of the managers was checking in some movies and was like, "Don't worry about it, she's in here all the time." And I'm pretty sure that the warning got taken off. :-P (The account used to be my mom's but a couple years ago she decided she didn't want it, so just gave the card to me.)

5. GIP! I got this one and two others from [livejournal.com profile] soft_princess, plus I got two other new ones - one from [livejournal.com profile] lunanne and another from somewhere else. So, go check them out.

WW: +2.0 (-45.4)

WTF? That's all I have to say - WTF?

Today was just one of those days that was insanely busy, plus stressful - but stressful in a lot of little stressful things sort of way. So am very glad it's over. Here's hoping tomorrow's better.

But I now have a new love in my life. It's called "Blind Justice" and it's on ABC on Tuesdays at 10. (And, no, I'm not cheating on "Queer Eye".) It was even better than I had hoped for from seeing the previews and I've fallen completely in love. Possibly (gasp!) even more than "Lost" (but that remains to be seen, no pun intended). I can't wait for next week.

Am highly amused. My Uncle Byron and Aunt Monica gave us a subscription to "Time" for Christmas and the new issue came today and when I got home after Bible Study tonight, it was on the kitchen table next to my stuff and open to the article called "Queer Eye for Straight TV" and, from what I can tell since I haven't read it yet, it's about the gay influence in television this season. Looks like it'll be pretty cool. The only person that would've done that would be my dad, since I haven't seen my brother yet today and, besides, Chase doesn't know I watch "Queer Eye" or have a sneaking suspicion that I'm a lesbian (as far as I know at any rate, though I think my dad's over the second one).

And here's my quick Author Apprecation, since there's no way I'd remember to do it every day this week.

[livejournal.com profile] serafina20 - You all *knew* this one was coming, didn't you? There's "Corner of the World", obviously. But the rest of her stuff is great too. I can't sing her praises highly enough.
[livejournal.com profile] thebratqueen - I love "Protocol" and the "Epiphany" series. And I think she's a great writer. (As does, I think, everyone else in fandom.)
[livejournal.com profile] mpoetess - Skelping. Enough said.
[livejournal.com profile] wesleysgirl - I love her Wesley.
The whole T&B crew - I never would've thought that it could work, but it does and *damn* is it good.

And a special shout-out to [livejournal.com profile] lunanne for being my enabler.

I'm rereading my first fic and switching between rolling my eyes and thinking "It's *hoorrible*!" (a la Ted) and laughing at it and being amazed at how much I've matured as a writer since 1996. I just might post it somewhere so you all can gawk and laugh at it along with me.

WW: -2.2 (-28.8 total since 7/26)
Curves: -6.5 inches (-20 total since 12/19/03)

I'm joining in on the numbered lists.

1. Yay! I hit my 10%! Yeah, yeah, I know this doesn't mean much to those of you who don't do WW, but I'm still very happy about it.

2. So I spent most of Sunday watching Graham's scenes trying to get a handle on him for CJ's fic challenges and in Graham's season 5 episodes (Out of My Mind (in which I swear he speaks more in his first scene than he did in all of his 10 season 4 eps combined), Listening to Fear, and Into the Woods) since he talked *a lot* more, I realized that he has a slight accent, so as I was listening, I thought, "Sounds kinda ghetto, so he's obviously from a big city - and my guess would be Chicago" So I got on imbd.com and you know where Baily Chase is from? Chicago. I thought it was amusing that I picked out a Chicago accent right away when I don't think that I normally could.

3. I came |_| to getting a free copy of The Sillamarilion and Atlas of Middle Earth. We were sorting books to return to the publishers last week and anything that was a strip cover, we could keep if we wanted it. But, alas, they had to go back to the publisher.

4. OTOH, I *did* get a copy of Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere for free.

5. Repossession is now done! I know I haven't pimped it in quite a while, but it's definitely worth the read. (And it's really, really long.)

6. I could've sworn that there was a number six (if not more numbers), but I can't remember now.

So, Piek Ric finally got updated the other day. Two new parts of CotW, a deleted scene, and a really kick-ass Ocean's 11 fic. Go check them out.

Just read a *really* good Sorority Boys/SV crossover called Lavender by Kat Reitz and tzigane. You don't need to know anything about Sorority Boys in order to understand the fic.

Also just read a really good "Firefly" fic - Dangerous Cargo by Nestra. It's Mal/Simon and very good. And the image of Jayne cuddling a Shih-tzu is priceless.

I get weighed tomorrow at WW. Here's hoping I'm still losing. :-D

Am going to see Hugh Jackman in The Boy From Oz on Wednesday with [livejournal.com profile] nakedwesley. I'm so excited!
sam_gamgee: (dude - delectableoomph)
So, I survived my first week at Weight Watchers (hereafter WW).

I was talking with my mom on the phone Sunday night and my mom was like, "How about if we both lose weight, we go see The Village tomorrow." And I was like, "What if only one of us does?" My mom - "Then we'll go see it on Tuesday." I'm sorry, but what exactly would the difference be? It's not like seeing the movie on Tuesday is a punishment for me if I don't lose weight, since I'm still going to se it.

So, we both lost weight. My mom - she said four ounces, but I think she might have meant 4/10 of a pound, since they do tenths of a pound there. She wasn't very happy about that, but my mom's pretty skinny to begin with (168 pounds) (and yet, she wants to lose another 30 pounds, when she only needs to lose 15 *at most* - where is the logic in this?). Hopefully, her body will rebel and between it, me, and WW, we can somehow convince her that she's okay at the weight she's at (unrealistic, I know, but I gotta have some hope).

And I lost 7.6 pounds. In one week. I think that's more than I've lost, like, *ever*. I'm sure it's because I a) drank more water, b) was more conscious of what I was eating and c) didn't eat as much - just slower. I know that in a week or two, it'll slow down to about 2 pounds a week or something, but still... Wow.

After we grabbed lunch at Applebees (which has a nice selection of WW items), we went to see the 3 pm showing of The Village. For some reason, they decided to change the time to 2:30 and sold us tickets for the 5 pm show so we had already missed about 15 minutes of the movie. (We didn't look up at the marquee because we had looked it up online, and that's always been reliable before and just said, "Two for The Village".)

So we ended up sneaking in to see A Cinderella Story while we waited. Complete and utter fluff. But it was fun. And I'm highly amused that Rupert Grint was cast to play Austin, but had to bow out because of PoA. (Chad Michael Murray is the guy who is actually in the movie.)

I have to say that I loved The Village. M. Night Shyamalan is great. Joaquin Phoenix is great. Adrien Brody is great. (And if I didn't love him before, I do now.) And I love the sound/music for it. My mom said she thought it was good, but I could tell that she wasn't totally impressed with it. I don't think she's been completely wowed with any of Shyamalan's stuff since The Sixth Sense. (Though I can understand with Unbreakable, because she doesn't like the whole comic book thing.)

Saw R.S.V.P. today. I thought it was actually quite good for what genre it's in. So, I definitely recommend it.

If you haven't read the latest part (aka 115) of Lazuli's Repossession, you definitely should. And if you're behind, what are you waiting for to catch up?
sam_gamgee: (huggles - delectableoomph)
Had lots of fun with [livejournal.com profile] libralyte over the weekend. She got down here early Friday afternoon and left late Monday afternoon.

Friday night we rented Friend & Family and Mambo italiano. The first one was okay - somewhat funny and would be good if you're desperate for something to watch that deals with the Mafia and/or gays. The second was *really* *really* good and I highly recommend it.

Saturday we went to Christiana Mall and hung out for a while and I ended up getting TTT extended edition DVDs because they were only $40 (which was the cheapest I've seen so far). We also ran into Shannon, an old roommate and we didn't recognize her. She's lost *a lot* of weight. She wasn't very heavy to begin with (maybe needed to lose the proverbial 5 pounds and that was it) and now she's about half of what she used to be. Later Regina and I met up with my dad and went out for dinner before the two of us met up with Beth to go see RotK on campus. (I still love that movie to death.) We met Amy there and afterwards the four of us went to the Deer Park for drinks.

Sunday we hung out on Main Street for a few hours and looked around in the different stores and Regina wanted to see what all had changed since she had been down last year. After that we went over to Beth's house and the three of us went up to Concord Pike to the Barnes and Noble to look around. (And I'm really proud of myself for not spending any money in there since there were *so* many books I wanted. :-P) After dropping Beth off, we went back to Blockbuster and picked up Three Men and a Baby and Three Men and a Little Lady, since Regina felt like she had to "show me the light" or something. Both were lots of fun.

Monday morning we watched Mambo italiano again. While I was at class, Regina hung out at the library and visited with her old bosses. We hung out for a while after class and then I took her down to the train station so she could get home.

Watched "Spartacus" on USA last night and it didn't scare me as much as I thought it would. I actually enjoyed it. But I missed seeing Christian Kane on "Las Vegas". :-(

Found out today that there's new parts to the third arc of Tea & Biscuits. Yay!

1. I'm going to be heading down to Connexions after class tomorrow and won't be back until Sunday evening/night.

2. Found out why Jody wasn't on the Newsboys' Adoration tour. Like Peter said - it's said, but I'm at peace with it. But Brian Olesen seems pretty cool - both from the interview and seeing him on the tour. Here's hoping and praying everything goes okay with Jody and his family.

3. I was almost positive I had a third, but now I can't remember.

4. Oh! [livejournal.com profile] wisteria_ is evil. Evil, I tell you! Though it is very funny in retrospect.

5. And go read the fics in [livejournal.com profile] soft_princess's G/X ficathon. I've only read a couple stories so far, but they've been great and I have it on good authority that the others are as well.

Whee!

There's a new part of "Corner of the World"!

And a new part of "Repossession".

I thought [livejournal.com profile] serafina20 had some interesting stuff to say about Century City.

And I think the world's gonna end. I'm reading a Spander fic that's not Repossession. It's the [livejournal.com profile] fragment_rpg that's being written by [livejournal.com profile] _green_ and [livejournal.com profile] ladycat777. It's a WIP, but so far it's very good. And it's kinda like Repo, but backwards, and without the monster feet. (Hmmm. Maybe that's the reason for the appeal.)

As I said last night, I'm going to be leaving on Saturday to go visit family in Seattle. I probably won't be around much tomorrow because I'll be running around like a crazy person trying to do laundry and pack between a doctor's appointment, class, and a Phantoms game. So, if you don't hear from me by the 29th, then start to worry. :-P

Linkage

So I happened to be wandering around the internet again (which may not be a good thing) and I found some links I thought may be fun/interesting.

Massachussetts decides to allow gay marriage (though, I'm sure by now you all know about this).

But the sad part is that people are rallying against it. According to Boston Archbishop Sean O'Malley, gay marriage would have an "enormously negative impact on our society." *cough*BULLSHIT*cough*

This highly amused me. And why aren't there pictures? Practically every other Yahoo! news story has pictures. The reporters must just not ge able to wrap their heads around this.

[livejournal.com profile] whimsicalnotion is writing this really neat Lindsey/Xander series called Dante's View. Go read.

Because of my friend Michelle and Comedy Central, I've found out about Johnny McGovern (aka The Gay Pimp) and his really funny video, Soccer Practice.

And there's gonna be a new version of The Last Unicorn! I'm *so* excited about this. Not sure yet if it's going to be live action or animated - but either way, it looks cool.

Color me surprised. I was linked to an article on Christian Kane by a friend where David Boreanaz doesn't sound like a dork. "It's good to have Christian back," Boreanaz says. "He's my bud. It's all good. He's a great guy. I have fun with him, the tiny Texan. I was the one who recommended it. I told Joss to bring him back. I told Christian I wanted him back. I initiated it at the beginning of this season, and it came to fruition." (And maybe the 'tiny Texan' thing in "You're Welcome" is actually David's thing, since CK's from Texas, but Lin's from Oklahoma. Or maybe Angel's just being a dork again.)

As I was cleaning some links out of my bookmarks, I came across this link from a couple of seasons ago (I think around the end of Season 3) of Andy Hallett and Mark Lutz giving an interview. It's lots of fun and the two guys are great together. And Mark can do a killer Paul Lynde impression.

One of the communities I like looking at's been having a "trio week" theme, so lots of LotR pics. Here's some of my favorites. (Especially the 6th one down.)

And I nabbed some more icons from [livejournal.com profile] jacklemmon, so go check her site out. (And the ones I've lifted too!)

Argh.

A rabid Spander bunny just killed my Spunn bunny for my Secret Slasha challenge. Well, at least a) I wasn't very far along with the Spunn, b) at least I still have enough time to finish this story, and c) at least Spander is what the girl wanted.

Should be interesting since we all know that I'm not a part of the Spander camp (unless we're talking about Lazuli's fantastic "Repossession"). Hope it turns out all right.
